Our Milwaukee For Haiti

The following information was taken from this event on Facebook.

Date:
Sunday, January 31, 2010
Time:
1:00pm - 9:00pm
Location:
Lakefront Brewery
Street:
1872 North Commerce Street
City/Town:
Milwaukee, WI

"Come and join us in supporting local Milwaukee efforts to help Haiti. The event will take place from 1pm-9pm at Lakefront Brewery. Many members of Milwaukee's business community have donated raffle prizes and auction items to help raise funds for the cause. 100% of all beer/drink sales will go to this effort as well as all donations and all income from the raffle/silent auction.

The 2 Milwaukee-connected charities we will be supporting are Friends of Orphans http://www.friendsoftheorphans.org/s/769/start.aspx and Youth Haiti http://www.youthaiti.org and both groups will have speakers representing them and giving presentations at 5pm.

Music will be provided by our friends Chalice in the Palace and food will be provided by a host of Our Milwaukee members.

Our raffle and silent auction will have items provided by over 40 local Milwaukee businesses. The raffle prizes and auction items range in value, many valued over $100 and some even over $1000! This is a great way to take advantage of the great products and services that our community provides all the while benefiting the organizations helping the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Please show your thanks to our supporters - the list keeps growing!"

Beautiful Day in Milwaukee

We will hopefully be starting the grueling (albeit fun) process of painting and setting up the inside of the store tomorrow and we cannot be more excited. Really, this is a dream come true for both of us and we can't wait to see the finished product. BAH! THE EXCITEMENT! We've also been scouring the midwest for all of the perfect little trinkets, housewares, and furniture to complete the shop. Definitely drive by and check things out, there will be some major changes coming very soon!

While we work away getting everything ready, be sure to also take a trip down to Bayview to check out our friends at Sparrow Collective. They offer tons of awesome handmade goodness, including housewares, cosmetics, clothing, accessories, plushies, and so much more. We're looking forward to doing some events with them in the future and love em so!

Etsy! Etsy!

Wow! A full week since out last post... which means a full week closer to opening day!

We've started placing some items in the Project M Boutique Etsy Store! For now, you can find ROSEFLY goods, but be sure to also check out Kelly's label Des Arbres.

Food + Fashion = Awesome

Happy Sunday! It seems I had a cold for 24 hours, recovered for 4 days, and now it's hit my like a ton of bricks again. So chamomile tea it is!

I had a really wonderful Chicago trip yesterday. Sales could have definitely been better, but the frigid cold kept a lot of people at home it seemed. But my friend and I braved the weather and spent some time in Wicker Park. We found the cutest shop- I mean so overwhelming, cutesy-pink and blue, big-dumb-smile-on-your-face cute, called Rudys Roundup. The ladies working there were so very nice, and recommend Earwax Cafe for some cheap veggie eats. I ended up with some much-needed espresso, seitan buffalo wings and a cookie for under $15. It wasn't Comet, but I left very full and satisfied. VERY full.

So it's back to the real world today- working at home. I feel fortunate to have Chicago a day-trip away, but I really do love Milwaukee. I'm so excited to open Project M in this wonderful city.

Have a great day!

Handmade Market Chicago

Phew-
I'm taking a break from running around my apartment in the usual pre-show chaos to share where I'll be headed tomorrow.
Handmade Market Chicago is a monthly event, and tomorrow I'll be joining 33 other sellers at The Empty Bottle. I've sold
ROSEFLY at a variety of events this year (both successful and
not-so-much) but not Chicago yet! I'll let y'all know how it went.

Our Snowy Home

We're pleased to announce that we can finally make the official announcement that Project M's home will be 801 E. Center St, in the Riverwest section of Milwaukee.

First of all WEEEEEEEE!

We're so excited to settle in and meet the neighbors (I'm talking about you guys Stonefly, Fuel, Jackpot, Truly Spoken, etc) as well as the wonderful Riverwesters we hope to see popping into the shop! Keep posted and take a look at the spot as you drive, walk, bike, frolic by, we're sure alot will be happening there over the next couple of months as we get everything ready.

We also picked some lovely colours to paint the shop today, So we're getting more excited by the minute (okay, second).

Now if you don't mind, we're gonna get to work!

Home Sweet Home!

Tomorrow we'll be able to officially announce Project M's home!

We're both so excited and can't wait to finally be able to breathe easy knowing we have a roof over Project M's head.

Stay tuned!

Caffeine and Notebooks

"Behind every successful woman...is a substantial amount of coffee." -Stephanie Piro

I wanted to share the places where Kelly and I spent most of our time planning out Project M. Milwaukee has plenty of lovely coffee shops, but these are the closest to our homes and future boutique location.

The first is Alterra, specifically their Riverwest location at 2999 N Humboldt Rd. With espresso this good, it's no wonder we had trouble finding a seat sometimes!

Also serving Alterra coffee, Fuel Cafe is sure to get our business for many mornings to come. I mean it's right across the street from the shop! I once joked that my only requirement for finding a retail location was having 60-second access to good espresso... mission accomplished.
